only required if the shaft is dry of lubrication, or if water
tends to force its way up along the shaft. Remember to open
the pressure let-down plug when topping up. The shaft
sleeve is filled with ESSO CACAR K1 from the factory.
Hoisting and lowering with hand crank
In case of emergency or for service purposes, the transducer may
be hoisted and lowered by means of the hand crank.
Locate the hand crank and the brake release bolt in the motor
control unit. Fasten the hand crank to the motor shaft, mount the
brake release bolt, and press the bolt to release the brake while
hoisting or lowering with the hand crank.
Air bleeding
To avoid damage of the transducer by transmitting in air inside
the trunk, the air bleeding system must be checked after the ship
has been docked.
Close the air bleeding cock on top of the trunk flange and
dismount the pipe. Open the air bleeding cock and check that the
water is passing freely through the cock. Also check that the pipe
is open by blowing in one of the pipe terminations.
Remount the pipe to the air bleeding cock and turn the cock to the
open position.
