7.6 Establishing the conductivity of the feed water
The EC Tower is factory-fitted with a steam humidifier and steam cylinder. The installed steam cylinder for size
1 or 2 is designed for feed water with medium conductivity.
Before starting up the EC Tower, measure the conductivity of the feed water at the site and compare this with
the conductivity of the installed steam cylinder. If necessary, replace the installed steam cylinder with one for
low or high conductivity (see “6.2 Replacing the steam cylinder“ on page 173).
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the steam cylinder if unsuitable feed water is used!
• Make sure the feed water has the correct properties. The properties of the feed water are
described in the: Steam humidifier OEM User Manual (see section “3.2“ on page 169).
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the steam cylinder if the feed water and steam cylinder have differing
conductivity!
• Consult your local water supplier to nd out the conductivity of your local feed water.
• Make sure that the installed steam cylinder is suitable for the conductivity of the local feed
water.
The table below shows the available steam cylinders with different conductivity figures for the respective sizes.

Procedure
1. Find out the conductivity of the local feed water from your local water supplier.
2. Compare the conductivity of the local feed water with the conductivity of the steam cylinder (see table:
Cross-reference of steam cylinders to EC Tower size).
- If the figure provided by the water supplier matches the medium conductivity of the steam cylinder, you
can use the installed steam cylinder.
- If the figure provided by the water supplier does not match the medium conductivity of the steam cylin-
der, replace the installed steam cylinder.
