ESD: electrostatic discharge
7.8 Electrically connecting the EC Tower
DANGER
Danger of death from electric shock!
• Make sure that the electrical supply is off.
Always have electric cables connected by specialist personnel only.
• Make sure that the unit is effectively grounded.
NOTICE
Pay attention to EN 50178 5.2.11.2 when connecting residual current circuit-breakers. Only
AC/DC-sensitive FI circuit-breakers (type B) are admissible. As with frequency converters,
during operation FI circuit-breakers do not provide personal protection.
Therefore, make sure that the electrical supply matches the data on the rating plate and that
the tolerances remain within the application limits.
• Make sure that phase imbalance does not exceed 2 %.
Phase imbalance can be determined by measuring the voltages between the outer conductors.
• Do not exceed the mean value of the voltage differences of 8 V.
NOTICE
Make sure the on-site electrical supply system and fuses are suitable for the total current of
the unit (see circuit diagram).
• Pay attention to the phase rotation. Make sure the rotary eld rotates clockwise.
During operation, the fan is dependent on the direction of rotation of phases in the electricity
grid. The direction of rotation is checked before shipping.
