EC TOWER TECHNICAL MANUAL
7.4 Installing the drain
7.4.1 Types of installation
The condensate from the heat exchanger and the waste water from the steam cylinder are discharged into
the on-site sewage system via the condensate pipe and drainage pipe. The drainage pipe is connected to the
condensate pipe of the EC Tower. The drainage pipe is not included with the EC Tower, and must be provided
by the customer.
NOTICE
Risk of water damage in the EC Tower and its installation location if non-temperature resistant
components are used!
• Make sure that all drain components (condensate pipe, drainage pipe, hose clamps, supports,
etc.) have a minimum temperature resistance of +99 °C.
NOTICE
Risk of water damage in the EC Tower and its installation location if non-temperature resistant
components are used!
• Make sure there are no kinks in the condensate pipe and drainage pipe.
• Make sure that the condensate pipe and drainage pipe are laid with a downhill gradient of
over 1/100.
• Make sure there are no steps or bleeder valves in the condensate pipe or drainage pipe.
• Make sure that the condensate can drain away freely at the end of the drainage pipe.
NOTE
Pay attention to the regulations of your local water company.
There are two types of installation for draining condensate: discharging the condensate freely via a conden-
sate pipe and drainage pipe, or installing a hot water condensate pump. The type of installation is chosen
depending on local circumstances, the amount of condensate forming, the required distance, and noise.
Removing condensate using a condensate pump
NOTICE
Risk of water damage in the EC Tower and its installation location if non-temperature resistant
components are used!
• Use only a hot water condensate pump (see “13. Options“ on page 75).
If the condensate cannot drain away freely, a hot water condensate pump and pressure pipe must addition-
ally be installed. The hot water condensate pump is an optional accessory of the EC Tower, see section “13.
Options“ on page 75. The pressure pipe must have an inside diameter of 9 mm. The pressure pipe is not
