Cooling Fan Thermo-Switch Inspection

Inspect the cooling fan thermo-switch in the following
procedures:
CAUTION
!
• Take special care when handling the
cooling fan thermo-switch. Do not subject
it to strong blows or allow it to be dropped.
• Do not contact the cooling fan thermo-
switch (1) and the column thermometer (2)
with a pan.
1) Remove the cooling fan thermo-switch. Refer to
“Cooling Fan Thermo-Switch Removal and
Installation (Page1F-10)”.
2) Check the thermo-switch closing or opening
temperatures by testing it at the bench as shown in
the figure.
3) Connect the thermo-switch (1) to a circuit tester and
place it in the oil “A” contained in a pan, which is
placed on a stove.
4) Heat the oil to raise its temperature slowly and read
the column thermometer (2) when the switch closes
or opens.

Thermostat Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Drain a small amount of engine coolant. Refer to
“Cooling System Inspection in Section 0B (Page0B-
11)”.
2) Remove the air cleaner box. Refer to “Air Cleaner
Box Removal and Installation in Section 1D
(Page1D-9)”.
3) Place a rag under the thermostat case (1).
4) Remove the thermostat case (1).
5) Remove the thermostat (2).
