18-16 FRONT FORK AND STEERING
• Clamp the axle holder 0 with a vise. Protect the axle holder
0 with a rag when using a vise.
• Compress the outer tube by hands and install the piston
holder (special tool) between the axle holder 0 bottom and
lock-nut 7.

• Insert the push rod A into the inner rod.
• Replace the O-ring with a new one.
• Apply fork oil to the O-ring.
• Insert the shaped projection A of center bolt B into the
push rod B.
• Slowly tighten the center bolt B until resistance is felt and
check the clearance between the lock-nut 7 and center bolt
B to provide 1 mm (0.04 in) and more.

• Turn the lock-nut 7 counterclockwise until it contacts with the
center bolt B.
• With the lock-nut 7 held immovable using a wrench, tighten
the lock-nut/center bolt to the specified torque.
Lock-nut/center bolt: 22 N·m (2.2 kgf-m, 16.0 lbf-ft)
• With the outer tube compressed by hands, remove the special
tool.
* Clamping the axle holder 0 too tight can damage it
which will affect riding stability.
* Be careful not to clamp the axle holder 0 too tight.
