Troubleshooting
Symptom: Engine does not run.
Symptom: Engine continues to run
with E-stop switch in the OFF
position.
Symptom: Engine continues to run
with engine on/off switch in the OFF
position.
Symptom: Engine continues to run
with E-stop and on/off switches in the
OFF position.
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty E-stop switch. Test switch. (See “E-Stop Switch” on page 4-11.)
Faulty engine on/off switch. Test switch. (See “Engine On/Off Switch” on page 4-11.)
Faulty ignition coil. Test spark plug for spark. (Refer to engine manual for test procedure.)
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty E-stop switch Test switch. (See “E-Stop Switch” on page 4-11.)
Open ground circuit. Check black wire between ring terminal ground (X1) and E-stop switch terminal (X2).
Open switch circuit. Check red wire between E-stop switch terminal (X3) and ignition coil wire terminal (X5).
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty engine on/off switch Test switch. (See “Engine On/Off Switch” on page 4-11.)
Open ground circuit. Check ground tab on engine on/off switch. Ground tab must have a clean connection to
cover.
Open switch circuit. Check red wire between engine on/off switch terminal (X4) and ignition coil wire terminal
(X5).
Probable Cause Remedy
Faulty connections. Check ignition coil wire connector (X5) for good connection.
Check gray wire between connectors (X5 and X6).
