Flashing the Lamp for Alignment - Alternate Method
Instruments boot differently depending on instrument model, version, and if it is calibrated. All that is
required to align the optics is to light the lamp. The lamp is always lit in Visible units.
Spectronic GENESYS 10 UV-Vis and Spectronic BioMate 3 (early versions)
1. Install the ZOGH tool.
2. Press ENTER to flash the lamp for 15-second intervals after power on.
3. Repeat
Spectronic GENESYS 10 UVscanning, Spectronic GENESYS 6, Spectronic GENESYS 10 UV-Vis,
Spectronic BioMate 3 (later versions) and Spectronic GENESYS 10 Bio
1. Use the preferred method
Mirror Adjustments
The four mirrors used in the Spectronic GENESYS 10 spectrophotometer are each unique and must only
be replaced by the same mirror at a specific location. However, all four mirrors mount and adjust in the
same manner. To tell the difference:
1. Mirror A has a Blue dot
2. Mirror B1 has no dot
3. Mirror B2 has no dot and is angled up compared to mirror B1
4. Mirror C has a Red dot
There are two screws (one at each end of the foot), which mount the mirror to the base (refer to
Figure 6.1). There is enough clearance in the mounting hole to provide some rotational movement of the
mirror. This movement is used to adjust the horizontal (rotational) alignment of the mirror.
A third screw is located behind the mirror. It holds down the spring-loaded mounting tab. This screw is
used to adjust the vertical tilt of the mirror.
