Troubleshooting Chart
SYMPTOM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION
Power cord not plugged into rear of instrument Plug in power cord
Power cord not plugged into outlet Plug in power cord
Power cord plugged into ‘dead’ line Try another line
Check fuse Replace fuse
Fuses not installed Install fuses
Fuses not inserted correctly (toward rear of fuse
holder, rather than in the clips, or spring not high
enough to keep fuse located at the correct end of
the fuse holder)
Install fuses correctly
1 or both fuses blown
Replace fuse(s), but only once. If the new
fuse(s) blow again, fix the problem before
trying another fuse to avoid damage.
Check power supply by measuring the voltages
on the secondary
Replace Power Supply
No power to unit
Cable from Power Supply to J5 on Main board is
either broken or disconnected
Ensure cable securely connected
Replace cable
Cable from display board to connect J9 on Main
board is either disconnected or broken
Ensure cable securely connected.
Replace cable.
Display cables are switched Install Display cables correctly
Display malfunctioning Replace display
Display does not light up upon power-up
Main board problem Replace Main board
Display lights up but display is blank and
filter wheel does not move
Main board problem Replace Main board
Continuous beep when unit turned on
Keypad circuitry shorted or malfunctioning key
closure
Replace keypad
Someone pressed ↓ and ENTER keys
simultaneously at power-up
Run Service software to recalibrate
instrument.
Battery not installed or is dead
Install or replace battery and run Service
software to recalibrate instrument.
Turn unit on –
Press F1 for a xenon lamp system
Press F2 for a tungsten lamp system

Main board problem
Replace Main board and run Service software
to recalibrate instrument.
