The “Secure Link Facility” (
PORT_MAX_APPL_RETRIES [n] > 0) is normally used together with
the “Pulse Position Reservation Facility”, at least on the Inbound link. (It is not necessary on
the Outbound link). Otherwise, the TSAT network cannot guarantee the correct reception-
order of Inbound packets from the RTs. Packets may also be lost due to collisions (or other
reasons), even though most of the collided packet will be retransmitted by the PPR protocol.
The PPR functions are controlled by PHL_SLOT_PHASE_MODE, which is interpreted as
follows:

Normally,
PHL_SLOT_PHASE_MODE = 0x0470 is used (i.e: PULSES = 7, SEPARATION = 4,
STRATEGY = 0).
PHL_SLOT_PHASE_MODE = 0x0471 (i.e: STRATEGY = 1) should preferable be used in smaller
networks with less or equal 7 RTs.
Messages from PPR functions may be enabled by bit 4 (0x0010 –
DEBUG_PPR) in
UTL_DEBUG_MASK.
