Using an Injector 189
Chapter 11
Running Gradients
This chapter describes how to run gradient and event tables using the Operate Gradient
mode of the Gradient Controller. Execution of these time-based tables allows
you to:
• Implement flow and compositional gradients
• Activate external events
This chapter assumes that you have:
• Prepared your system (see Chapter 3, Preparing Your 600E System for Operation).
• Set the operating parameters (see Chapter 8, Setting Gradient Controller Operating
Parameters).
• Created gradient and event tables (see Chapter 10, Creating Gradient Controller
Time-Based Tables).
If you have not performed these tasks, please take the time to do them now.
11.1 Using an Injector
The Waters 600E systems supports two methods for injecting samples in the Operate
Gradient mode: manual injection and autoinjection. This section provides instructions for
using:
• The Rheodyne 7725i manual injector
• A non-PowerLine autoinjector
11.1.1 Using the Rheodyne 7725i Manual Injector
This section is an overview on using the optional Rheodyne 7725i manual injector. See the
Rheodyne 7725i Manual Injector Installation and Maintenance Guide for specific
operating instructions.
