Lower unit
Removing the lower unit
1. Drain the gear oil.
2. Shift the shift lever or remote control
lever to neutral, place a block of wood
between the anti-cavitation plate and pro-
peller to keep the propeller from turning,
and then remove the propeller nut and
propeller.

9 Do not hold the propeller with your
hands when loosening or tightening it.
9 Be sure to disconnect the battery leads
from the battery and the clip from the
engine stop lanyard switch.
9 Put a block of wood between the anti-
cavitation plate and propeller to keep the
propeller from turning.
3. Mark the trim tab 1 at the area shown,
and then remove it.
4. Loosen the locknut 2, and then remove
the adjusting nut 3.
5. Loosen the bolts (nuts), and then remove
the lower unit from the upper case.
