REAR WHEEL
Bent teeth Replace the drive sprocket, the
rear wheel sprocket and the drive chain as a
set.
2. Replace:
Rear wheel sprocket
a. Remove the rear wheel sprocket nuts and
the rear wheel sprocket.
b. Clean the rear wheel drive hub with a clean
cloth, especially the surfaces that contact
the sprocket.
c. Install the new rear wheel sprocket.
TIP
Tighten the rear wheel sprocket nuts in stages
and in a crisscross pattern.

ASSEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL
NOTICE

Do not drop the wheel sensor rotor or sub-
ject it to shocks.
If any solvent gets on the wheel sensor ro-
tor, wipe it off immediately.
1. Install:
Wheel bearing (right side)
Wheel bearing (left side)
Oil seal
Refer to “ASSEMBLING THE FRONT
WHEEL” on page 4-14.

Handle the ABS components with care
since they have been accurately adjusted.
Keep them away from dirt and do not sub-
ject them to shocks.
The rear wheel sensor cannot be disassem-
bled. Do not attempt to disassemble it. If
faulty, replace with a new one.
Keep any type of magnets (including mag-
netic pick-up tools, magnetic screwdrivers,
etc.) away from the rear wheel sensor or
rear wheel sensor rotor.
Do not drop or shock the wheel sensor or
the wheel sensor rotor.
1. Check:
Rear wheel sensor
Refer to “MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONT
WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR”
on page 4-15.
2. Check:
Rear wheel sensor rotor
Refer to “MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONT
WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR”
on page 4-15.
3. Measure:
Wheel sensor rotor runout
Refer to “MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONT
WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR”
on page 4-15.

ADJUSTING THE REAR WHEEL STATIC
BALANCE
TIP
After replacing the tire, wheel or both, the rear
wheel static balance should be adjusted.
Adjust the rear wheel static balance with the
brake disc and rear wheel drive hub installed.
1. Adjust:
Rear wheel static balance
Refer to “ADJUSTING THE FRONT WHEEL
STATIC BALANCE” on page 4-15.
b. Correct
1. Drive chain roller
2. Rear wheel sprocket
Rear wheel sprocket nut
80 N·m (8.0 kgf·m, 59 lb·ft)
