TheZXR102900EprovidesafewIPv4layer-3functionsfortheremotecongurationand
management.Torealizetheremoteaccess,anIPportmustbeconguredontheswitch.
IftheIPportoftheremotecongurationhostandthatoftheswitcharenotinthesame
networksegment,itisalsonecessarytocongurethestaticroute.
Staticrouteisasimpleunicastrouteprotocol.Thenext-hopaddresstoadestination
networksegmentisspeciedbyauser,wherenexthopisalsocalledgateway.Staticroute
involvesdestinationaddress,destinationaddressmask,next-hopaddress,andegress
interface.Destinationaddressanddestinationaddressmaskdescribethedestination
networkinformation.Thenext-hopaddressandegressinterfacedescribethewaythat
switchforwardsdestinationpackets.
TheZXR102900EallowsaddinganddeletingthestaticARPtable.TheARPtablerecords
mappingrelationshipbetweentheIPaddressandtheMACaddressofeachnodeinthe
samenetwork.WhensendingIPpackets,theswitchrstcheckswhetherthedestination
IPaddressisinthesamenetworksegment.Ifyes,theswitchcheckswhetherthereisa
peerendIPaddressandMACaddressmappingentryintheARPtable.
