RMONOverview
TheRemoteMonitoring(RMON)denesthestandardnetworkmonitoringfunctionanda
communicationinterfacebetweenthemanagementconsoleandtheremotemonitor.The
RMONoffersanefcientmethodtomonitorthebehaviorsofsubnetswhilereducingthe
loadofotheragentsandmanagementstations.
TheRMONspecicationsrefertothedenitionofRMONMIB.TheZXR102900Esupports
fourgroupsofRMONMIB.
lHistory:recordstheperiodicstatisticssampleoftheinformationthatcanbeobtained
fromthestatisticsgroup.
lStatistics:maintainsthebasicapplicationanderrorstatisticsofeachsubnetthatthe
agentmonitors.
lEvent:atablerelatedtoalleventsgeneratedbyRMONagents.
lAlarm:allowsoperatorsofthemanagementconsoletosetsamplingintervaland
alarmthresholdforanycountorintegerrecordedbyRMONagents.
Allthesegroupsareusedtostorethedatacollectedbythemonitorandderiveddataand
statisticsdata.Thealarmgroupisbasedontheimplementationoftheeventgroup.These
datacanbeobtainedthroughtheMIBbrowser.
TheRMONcontrolinformationcanbeconguredthroughtheMIBbrowser,or
HyperTerminalorremoteT elnetcommandlines.TheRMONsamplinginformationand
statisticsdataisobtainedthroughtheMIBbrowser.
