WARNING: Potential Biohazard. Wear gloves, lab coats, and safety
glasses and follow other biosafety practices as specified in the OSHA
Bloodborne Pathogen Rule (29 CFR Part 1910.1030) or other equivalent
biosafety procedures.
The Auto-Clean Cycle is a fully automated cycle designed to clean the Shear
Valve, RBC/PLT Mixing Chamber, the WBC Mixing Chamber, the Optical Flow
Cell, the HGB Flow Cell, Open Sample Probe, the needle in the Tower Module,
and all the associated fluidics. The forward and reverse action of the peristaltic
pump is used during this cycle to gently scrub and remove any fibrin or debris
within the system. The Auto-Clean cycle takes approximately 12 minutes. When
the [AUTO CLEAN] key is pressed, instructions are displayed on the screen, as shown
in Figure 9.5.
NOTE: The Auto-Clean cycle should be run prior to performing any maintenance
procedure. This ensures that all waste is purged from the fluid pathways.
