Appendix C
3. If you wish to change the description on a POS
transaction, use the Enter Description feature.
See
11. Enter Desc below. This is used for
miscellaneous, non-stock, and special order items.
7. Unit Desc 1. The unit description is a 2-character code which
identifies the unit of measure for the item.
Common unit descriptions are:
EA Each LB Pound
BF Board Feet BX Box
SF Square Feet RL Roll
LF Lineal Feet CT Carton
DZ Dozen CS Case
YD Yard CD Card
2. Unit descriptions are combined with the C or M
which identifies pricing in hundreds or thousands.
The two combined are printed on inventory
reports, displayed on inventory file inquiries and
at POS and Purchasing/Receiving, and printed on
POS transactions, purchase orders, and receipts
whenever the item is shown.
3. If you use a conversion factor for the item, use the
corresponding unit of measure. See
16. Conv Factor
below.
8. Item Code 1. The item code provides options for fabricated
items as well as other features used for individual
inventory items. It is an optional field.
2. Leave it blank if you are not using these features.
3. The following codes are valid:
A = fab type A. Relieves inventory of each
component of the fabricated item at the time of
the sale (during POS). Fab type A items sell the
same components every time (i.e., picnic table).
B = fab type B. Same as fab type A except it
allows different versions of the fabricated item.
Fab type B items sell different components (i.e.,
sheds of various sizes and styles).
C = fab type C. Relieves inventory of a
manufactured item which is stocked as a finished
product (no versions). The item’s components are
reduced from inventory when the item is produced
(i.e., trusses, doors, bundled items).
R = running balance item. Keeps track of items
such as pallets where a customer leaves a deposit
when taking it and receives a refund when they
bring it back. To use the running balance feature,
set up the following in the Variable File for
Inventory, Other Options, Running Balance, field
2,
Keep Running Balance (Y/N) = Y. Also, the item must
be set up to be a perpetual item (field 32,
Non
Perpetual = N
).
