Manifold
Manifold
This section describes how to open and close the manifold, and to clean the
ion optics assembly.
To open the manifold
When required As needed for maintenance.
Tools required None
Parts required None
1 Vent the system.
2 Unplug the instrument power cord from the power outlet after venting is
complete.
For 6550: Unplug both power cords from the power outlet.
3 Remove the front cover from the instrument.
4 Remove the top cover from the instrument.
5 Remove the left side covers.
6 Disconnect the connections to the Aux module, and lift off and remove the
Aux module. Put on an antistatic wrist strap. Attach the wrist strap to a
grounded surface such as the back panel of the instrument.
7 Remove the two thumb screws and two T-20 flat head screws.
8 Lift off the vacuum manifold cover.
