Extended Depth of Focus (EDF)
2. Once there, click “Capture,” and move the focus a lile closer to the next plane of focus desired, and repeat.
Repeat this process unl you have focused through the tallest plane to the shortest plane (the closest that your
microscope stage or head is to the sample before losing focus enrely). Clicking “Clear” will remove all photos
from the list, so please use it only when needing to restart from the beginning. Once nished capturing photos
while adjusng focus, press “Next” to connue.
Note: The more images captured in smaller increments of focus, the beer the end image will be. Also, the
reason we capture from tallest to shortest is because the images must be in sequence for the EDF tool to func-
on correctly. If the images are taken out of order, they will need to be reordered before the tool will work
correctly. Out of order images will cause strange focusing arfacts to occur when rendering the nal image.
