Troubleshooting
System does not receive caller ID when on a call.
X Make sure you subscribe to caller ID with call waiting features from your
telephone service provider. Caller ID features works only if both you and the
caller are in areas oering caller ID service, and if both telephone service
providers use compatible equipment.
Incomplete messages.
X If a caller leaves a very long message, part of it may be lost when the system
disconnects the call aer the maximum recording time you have set.
X If the caller pauses for longer than seven seconds, the system stops
recording and disconnects the call.
X If the system’s memory becomes full during a message, the system stops
recording and disconnects the call.
X If the caller’s voice is very so, the system may stop recording and
disconnect the call.
Diculty hearing messages.
X Press VOLUME/p to increase the telephone base speaker volume.
X Press pDIR/VOLUME to adjust the message playback volume on
a cordless handset.
System does not answer aer the correct number of rings.
X Make sure the answering system is on. L1) Ans sys o or L2) Ans sys o
should not appear on the cordless handset screen and the
/LINE 1 ANS ON/OFF or /LINE 2 ANS ON/OFF light on the
telephone base should be on.
X If toll saver is activated, the number of rings changes to two when you have
new messages stored (page 128).
X If the memory is full or the system is o, the system will answer aer
ten rings.
X In some cases, the answering system is aected by the ringing system used
by your telephone service provider.
X If you subscribe to voicemail service, change the number of rings so
that your answering system answers before your voicemail (page 128).
To determine how many rings activate your voicemail, contact your
telephone service provider.
X If there is a fax machine connected to the same telephone line, try
disconnecting the fax machine. If that solves the problem, consult your
fax machine documentation for information on compatibility with
answering systems.
