inspection includes a test of the propulsion control and all
control stations, visual check of outdoor stations for water
tightness, a general function test as well as an inspection for the
integrity of all components, see also chapter 8, Maintenance and
Repair, on page 91.
2.8 Protective devices
2.8.1 Emergency stop
Marex 3D must only be operated with a separate emergency
stop provided on every control station. It is not included in any
of the Marex systems. It must be fully operational at all times,
especially in case of a remote control failure. Normally, the
emergency stop is part of the ship’s safety system.
2.8.2 Visual alarms and acoustic signals
Marex ship controls provide extensive self-diagnostics and
monitor permanently the condition of components and ship
drives. In case of a failure, the operator is alerted by visual and
acoustic signals on control head or joystick station. There are
different alarm signals depending on the impact of the failure on
the operability of the drives. Every alarm must be acknowledged
by pushing a corresponding key. The MarexOSIII control units
and 3D Controller provide an error display by means of which it
is possible to identify alarm causes.
Refer to chapter 10, Troubleshooting, for details on alarms
and troubleshooting within Marex 3D.
For alarms in the MarexOSII/III-system refer to the
MarexOSII service manual, chapter 3.
For Marex ECS, refer to the Marex ECS Quick Guide. See
also chapter 1.2 of this manual, Required and additional
documentation, on page 6.
