4.3.2 3D Controller
The 3D Controller is the control unit of Marex 3D. The
commands which are set by the joystick are transmitted to the
3D Controller via the joystick CAN bus. The 3D Controller
processes and converts the signals and actuates engines and

Take over the command.
Switch on the 3D-mode.
Acknowledge errors.
Indicate the active command (white).
Thruster key (10) and status
indicators (8, 9)
Switch the thruster mode on and off.
Indicate active thruster mode (white, 8).
Indicate thruster errors (red, 9).
Heading key (12) and
indicator (13)
Switch the heading mode on and off.
Indicate the active heading mode (white).
Dimming key (11) and
booklet symbol
Adjust the light level of the joystick.
Booklet illuminated (orange) in the heading mode:
By pushing the key the operator confirms he/she is
aware of the instructions and warnings referring to the
use of the heading mode.
Joystick status indicator (6) Green: The joystick is ready for operation.
White: The joystick is not ready.
Red: The joystick is defect.
System error indicator (7) Yellow (Warning)
There is an error in the Marex 3D system, but the
operation of the joystick can be continued without
restriction.
Red (Alarm)
There is an alarm in the Marex 3D system. The
operation of this joystick is no longer possible or
possible with restrictions only.
