6.1.3.1 Heading sensor
Special requirements apply for the installation site and position
of the heading sensor.
O Verify if the arrow in the cover of the compass points
towards the heading „ahead“.
O Verify if the installation site meets the requirements as
listed in chapter 5.2, Mounting the heading sensor, on page
37.
O Verify that the installation site is not within the beams of
radar or INMARSAT.
6.1.4 Reviewing the cable connections
Only if all components are correctly wired, the system will
function properly. Check cables, plugs and connections
thoroughly before the commissioning. Proceed as explained
below:
1. Check if a changeover relay or diode cable has been
provided in the power supply.
2. Verify the bus connections: Make sure the cables have been
assigned correctly and properly connected. Check if
terminating resistors are applied where necessary.
3. Verify the wiring of the digital in- and outputs at the
3D Controller, see also chapter 5.3.1, Connecting the 3D
Controller, on page 39.
6.1.4.1 Power supply: Changeover
If Marex 3D is operated with a twin Marex OS III system,
changeover switches must be provided to switch the power
supply over to the other power supply in case of a power failure.
The changeover is usually provided by the shipyard when
planning the power supply.
O Verify if the power supply includes changeover switches.
Add the switches if necessary. See also chapter 5.3.1.3,
Connecting the power supply, on page 43.
