7.5.3 Heading mode
The heading mode is used to automatically hold the heading in
which the ship’s bow is pointed while the joystick is released.
It is activated as soon as the heading mode key is pushed.
Marex 3D will then actuate the main engines and thrusters in
order to correct any deviations from the current heading. A
heading sensor is required to use this function. (See also
chapter 4.3.3, Heading sensor, on page 35).
Be aware that the heading mode does not prevent the ship
from drifting off.
Switching the heading mode on
To use the heading mode, the joystick must be in the 3D mode.
O Move the joystick to the neutral position.
O Push the heading mode key.
The buzzer sounds at short intervals. The heading status
indicator and dimming key with booklet symbol flash at
short intervals.
O Push the dimming key. By doing so you confirm that you
have taken good note of all safety messages referring to the
use of the heading mode.
The heading mode is switched on.The heading status
indicator and dimming key remain lit.
WARNING
Risk of damage to persons and property when using the heading mode in waters with
persons or objects nearby.
In the heading mode, the main engines and thrusters may start to operate unexpectedly.
There is a risk of collision with persons or objects nearby.
O Never use the heading mode in areas intended for swimming or diving.
O Never use the bathing platform when the ship is in the heading mode.
O Always tie up your boat at the jetty. Do not use the heading mode as an alternative.
O Do not use the heading mode for berthing maneuvers.
O Do not leave the control station unattended. Be aware that the ship is in movement in the
heading mode.
