O If there is no indication related to the thrusters, check the
error display at the 3D Controller for further information.
For errors in Marex 3D, refer to the next chapter.
For errors caused by MarexOSIII proceed as described in
the MarexOSIII Service Manual.
For errors with Marex ECS, refer to the Marex ECS Quick
Guide.
Be aware that alarms which are signaled at the joystick can
also be caused by the ship control system Marex OS III or
ECS.
10.4 Possible alarm causes and impact
This chapter gives an overview on possible causes for alarms
and their impact on the operability of Marex 3D.
10.4.1 Propulsion failure in 3D-mode
If one propulsion does not work, the impact on 3D-mode and the
reaction of the ship depends on the drives which are still
available.
Propulsions can be unavailable due to the following reasons:
W The engine does not run.
W The transmission can not be engaged or the drive is
defective.
W MarexOS III is switched off.
W MarexOS III has a failure.
Impact on a ship with bow and stern thrusters
If bow and stern thrusters are used in 3D-mode, the impact
which is caused by a propulsion failure will not be serious
because different driving units are used for transverse and
longitudinal thrust:
W The thrust for ahead or astern will be low or not available at
all.
W The thrusters will operate as usual.
