5.3 Establishing the electrical connections
5.3.1 Connecting the 3D Controller
5.3.1.1 Grounding
The 3D Controller must be grounded effectively to connect all
reference potentials of the distributed equipments. The ground
connections have to be as short as possible and with a
maximum ground area.
O Grounding shall be done preferably by direct mounting to
the ship’s body. The contact areas for all groundings shall be
metallically blank, free from paint, oxides or other insulating
layers. With proper measures it has to be guaranteed that
these contact points are protected against corrosion.
O If direct mounting to ship’s body is impossible, grounding
shall be done by flexible ground straps or metal strips. The
maximum resistance of the grounding should not be over
2mΩ. Please use the following table for the dimensioning:
