6.3 Initial operation
6.3.1 Defining the drive combinations
For some maneuvers there are different options how to
combine the available drives when the maneuver is performed.
Before starting the test procedures and adapting any system
settings, the drive constellation for those maneuvers must be
clear.
O Consult the customer and decide which drives shall be used
to execute individual maneuvers in the 3D mode.
O Use the software 3D-Tuning to store the information in the
3D Controller. Refer to the manual "3D-Tuning" for
information and instructions, see also chapter 1.2, Required
and additional documentation, on page 6.
O See also chapter 4.1.1, Drive combinations, on page 19.
6.3.2 Tests and adjustments
After verifying the system installation and completing the
parameterization, the function of Marex 3D must be tested. The
initial operation tests can be subdivided into three steps:
1. Dry Run
Internal system test after connecting Marex 3D to the Marex
system. The test is performed by operating the control
elements and observing and measuring if corresponding
signals are transmitted to the other system components.
During the dry run the engines are shut off to prevent any
real impact on other systems on board.
CAUTION
Risk of damage to persons and property as a result of uncoordinated system tests
During the dock and sea trials, the ship may move in an unexpected way. There is a risk of
accident if the personnel on board is not prepared and instructed.
O Make sure to coordinate systems tests with the shipyard and responsible persons on
board and instruct staff involved.
O During the dock trial, make sure the clutch is disengaged and the ship securely moored.
O Always move joystick and control head levers slowly and with care.
