adjustments" for information on installing and starting up
MarexOS standard components.
O Observe corresponding instructions for Marex ECS if
applicable.
5.2 Mounting the heading sensor
The heading sensor can be mounted in any installation position.
Special attention must be paid to its installation site:
W The heading sensor must have a clear view of the sky in all
directions.
W To prevent interferences to the compass signal, the sensor
must be mounted 1.5 m
– above a metal hull/deck
– away from any structures or equipment containing
ferrous metals
– away from anything that creates a magnetic field
O Mount the sensor:
– 1 m away from any VHF radio
– 4 m away from any antenna (MF/HF)
– 3 m away from loop antenna
– 3 m away from radar and not within its beam
– 5 m away from INMARSAT and not within its beam
