Working With Phone Hybrids • 151
©2008 Axia Audio — Rev. 3.0
Hybrid 1. Normally, that is the line that has been on hold
the longest. If there is no line on hold, pressing Next
answers the line that’s been ringing-in the longest.
Block All puts the TWOx12 into “Busy” mode. This
is useful for clearing lines prior to contest call-ins. When
you enter “Busy” mode, inactive lines are busied so that
callers will receive a busy signal when they attempt to
call-in. Lines that are active, i.e. on-air and on Hold are
not affected by the Block All key; however, if these lines
are dropped while TWOx12 is in “Busy” mode, these
lines will be “busied out as well. Note that “Busy”
mode has no effect at all on lines which are designated
as Hot or Warm Lines. To cancel “Busy” mode, press
the Block All key again; all busied lines will again be
available for incoming callers.
The Transfer key activates the Transfer function
within the Series 2101. Please refer to your Series 2101
documentation for more information on this feature.
The Set key on the fader channel is not used with the
Seriese 2101, and pressing it has no effect.
Assigning Incoming Lines to Faders
Audio is normally routed to the fader channel adja-
cent to the Line key row. Pressing the Hold key on the
fader channel puts the call on Hold, from where it can be
retrieved from anywhere in the system. (The Set key on
the fader channel is not used with the 2101, and pressing
it has no effect.)
When you have more than two hybrids, you can ei-
ther assign calls to faders manually using the Call Con-
troller’s “conference” (right) phone line column, or let
Element assign them automatically.
To assign lines manually, touch the Off, On, or Pre-
view keys on on the fader channel you wish to assign a
line to prior to selecting the line. You will see the text
Take Line on the alpha display at the top of the fader
channel. Then, press the Line key you wish to take on
the Call Controller. After pressing the phone line button,
the alpha display will change to Line X, where x is the
number of the line you selected, to remind you which
line is active on the fader channel. If you dont select a
line, the mode will time-out after 10 seconds.
If you have not initiated the manual assignment pro-
cedure, the automatic assignment sequence follows the
hybrid numbering from the 2101 system. But you can
assign hybrids to any fader channel, so you can have any
physical sequence that you choose on the Element con-
trol surface.
In 24-line mode, calls are normally taken to Hy-
brid 1. If this hybrid is in use and the associated line is
locked, selecting another line causes automatic assign-
ment to the next available hybrid and fader channel. You
can make assignments manually by touching Off, On, or
Preview before selecting the line, as described above.
Fader channels can also be configured as fixed lines.
In this mode, pressing the fader’s On button selects the
associated line directly. Pressing the associated Line
key on the Call Controller module will also pick up the
line, which will be active on its associated fader.
When an incoming line is slaved to a single fader
in this manner, pressing the fader On button answers a
ringing-in call, or, if the line is inactive, selects it so you
can make outgoing call using the keypad on Element’s
Navigation Module. Pressing the Off key once will
switch off the channel audio as normal; pressing the Off
key a second time drops the caller. Pressing the Hold
key puts the call on hold.
Series 2101 and Show Proles
A different 2101 Show can be assigned to each El-
ement profile so that you can use different groups of
phone lines, etc. with different profiles. This is useful if,
for instance, a single studion is used to produce multiple
syndicated call-in programs, and you wish to use differ-
ent groups of call-in lines for each show.
To protect calls that are on-air, a new 2101 Show
will not be loaded when a Show Profile is loaded if any
hybrids in the existing Show are still active (i.e., if one
or more hybrid faders are On). The new 2101 Show will
load only after all hybrid faders are switched off, similar
to the way Element handles requests for source changes
on active faders.
