Chapter 19 Initial Startup Procedure of Cube®
5) Inspect and Adjust the Carriage Assembly
5i) Check Inputs and Motion
Note: For the following checks, use the “Monitor Inputs” screen of the Cube® HMI (Human
Machine Interface) Panel.
Check all inputs
• Enter and Exit Door Photo-Eye
• Enter Load Photo-Eye
• Exit Load Photo-Eye
• All other installed Photo-Eyes
• Set the Sonar distance in the HMI (Human Machine Interface).
Jog the Carriage toward the exit until it is 4 inches from the Exit End Positive Stop.
Verify that the Sonar is parallel to the floor and not over any drains or obstructions.
If the sonar is over a drain, weld a target onto the grating.
Measure the distance from the Sonar face to the floor and record this value in the
“FLOOR DISTANCE” field of the SETUP/MISC/SONAR screen of the HMI. The
height value is what the Sonar currently reads.
Change the SONAR OFFSET to compensate the height so that it is equal to the
actual floor distance. (Example: Floor Distance = 102; Height = 100, make SONAR
OFFSET 2. At this point the height should equal floor distance (height will fluctuate,
use most common reading).
Note: For more information on the Multifunctional Sonar Unit see “Sonar Setup” in your HMI
(Human Machine Interface) Operation Manual under Sonar Screen Setup and Sonar
Mode Change.
• Verify the following inputs on the HMI (Human Machine Interface).
➢ Low Air: Oval filled
➢ GFCI: Oval filled
➢ E-Stop: Oval filled
➢ Low Water
➢ Bit 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the POS: Oval should be clear on all 4 and filled when any of
them has a Package selected at the POS.
➢ Home the machine from the HMI at the USER Screen.
➢ Press CARRIAGE FIND LIMIT from the User Screen. The Carriage will slowly move
from the exit to the entrance to measure the rail length.
