Chapter 6 Frame and Carriage Assembly
Frame Assembly: Position Frame in Bay
Establish Lines in Bay to Position the Frame Assembly
5) Measure 62-1/2” from the string centerline that was established in the bay to the driver side
of bay and make a mark on the ground. Do this at the entrance, middle, and exit of the bay.
6) Use these markings to align and snap a chalk line on the ground, shown below. This line
will be used to align the inside face of the driver side Rails when placing the Frame in the
Bay.
7) Repeat for passenger side. Measure 62-1/2” from established centerline to the passenger
side of bay and make a mark on the ground at the entrance, middle, and exit of the bay.
8) Using these markings to align and snap a chalk line on the ground, shown below. This line
will be used to align the inside face of the passenger side Rails when placing the Frame in
the Bay.
Note: On the Frame, the distance between the inside of the driver side Rails to the inside of
the passenger side Rails must be 125”, therefore, the distance from the centerline to the
Rails is 62-1/2”.
