4. Initial startup
4.1 Clamping high-pressure pump
4.1.1 EPS 708
1. Attach the drive coupling 1 686 401 024 (Fig. 24,
item 3) to the flywheel of the EPS.
2. Slide high-pressure pump (Fig. 24, item 1) onto
clamping bracket and attach to drive coupling
(Fig. 24, item3).
3. Fasten high-pressure pump using two clamping
screws (Fig. 24, item 2) to clamping bracket.

4.1.2 EPS 815
i The following additional clamping parts are re-
quired for adaptation of the high-pressure pump
to the flywheel of the EPS: Intermediate flange
1 685 700 140, drive coupling 1 686 401 024,
protective cover 1 685 510 148, protective ring
1 685 510 176.
1. Mount intermediate flange 1 685 700 140 (Fig. 25,
item4) and drive coupling 1 686 401 024 (Fig. 25,
item3) to EPS flywheel.
2. Slide protective cover 1 685 510 148 (Fig. 25,
item 6) onto clamping bracket and fasten using
clamping screw onto EPS clamping bracket.
3.7 Special accessories
High-pressure hose accessory set (1000 mm)
The accessory set 1 687 016 064 contains a high-pres-
sure hose and a test pressure line (90°) with adapter
nuts. The accessory set is required for the high-pres-
sure connection of commercial vehicle injectors.
High-pressure hose accessory set (750 mm)
The accessory set 1 687 016 070 contains a high-pres-
sure hose and a test pressure line (90°) with adapter
nuts. The accessory set is required for the high-pres-
sure connection of commercial vehicle injectors.
Adapter with pressure limiter
Use adapter 1 681 032 094 to connect the distributor
rail and high-pressure hose 1 680 712 227 to a 180 MPa
high-pressure rail (CRS 845).
Accessory set for piezo injectors
The accessory set 1 687 010 333 can be used for
clamping, connecting and checking piezo injectors from
Bosch.
Accessories kit for Delphi and Denso injectors
With the accessories kit 1 687 010 186, the latest pas-
senger vehicle injectors from Delphi and Denso can be
clamped, connected and tested.
Retrofitting for 2 kVA mains transformer
Depending on the version of your EPS 815 you may re-
quire a corresponding supplementary equipment set for
the mains transformer. From production date 06/2005,
the transformer is included in the EPS as standard.
