Front Panel Cable
J3 Connector
(EIA-232)
When connected to the front panel of the CHAMP-AV8, CBL-462-FPL-000 provides access to
EIA-232 Node B Serial Port 0 via the J3 connector on the cable. The pin assignments of the J3
(Female DB-9) connector are as follows:

(Ethernet Port A)
When connected to the front panel of the CHAMP-AV8, CBL-462-FPL-000 provides access to
Ethernet Port A via the J4 connector on the cable, on boards with the front panel Ethernet
factory build option. The pin assignments of the J4 (Female RJ45) modular jack are as follows:

The CHAMP-AV8 serial ports do not provide access to the CTS and RTS signals. Therefore,
software handshaking (XON/XOFF) must be used.
The CHAMP-AV8 EIA-232 serial channels are configured as DCE (Data Communications
Equipment). The EIA-232 serial channels on personal computers and terminals are
configured as DTE, therefore a null modem is NOT required for communication between the
CHAMP-AV8 and a PC terminal.
