Cylinder Head / Valve
 Remove the valve spring, valve cotter, retainer,
spring, and valve.
Tool: Valve spring compressor
 To prevent the loss of tension, do not compress
the valve springs more than necessary to
remove the cotters.
 Mark all parts during disassembly so they can
be placed back in their original locations.
 Remove the valve stem seals and valve spring
seals, remove the carbon deposits from the
combustion chamber.
Cylinder Head
 Clean off the head gasket surface.
 Avoid damaging the gasket surfaces.
 Remove the gasket, dowel pins, and cam chain
guide from the cylinder.
Cylinder Head Disassembly
 Loosen the pivot bolt and remove the cam
chain tensioner.
 Remove the carburetor insulator.
 Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head.
 Remove the spark plug cover from the cylinder
head.

