Districts
Most highway agencies subdivide their networks into Districts for more efficient
management. For the operator’s convenience, a list of Districts is compiled from the database
contents
Facilities
Certain attributes of the facility under test can be defined and recorded by the operator.
Again, it is possible to create and maintain a database for use on future projects. A “Facility”
can be anything from roadways, runways, streets to parking lots or even railways. Often a
facility is identified by both its common name and a roadway code which links into a
pavement management system database.
Section
A single facility is often composed of sections of varying construction. This “Sectioning” can
be both longitudinal and transverse. The latter is appropriate for multilane roadways where
traffic load varies across the construction.
