1.3.5 Switches and Buttons
The power switch is located on the front of the printer, at the
lower right. The operation panel buttons are located on the
front top of the printer, and the paper load switch is located
on the upper side of the printer mechanism. Two banks of
DIP switches are located on the bottom of the printer. (See
Figure 1-1.)
Power switch
The power switch (rocker switch) turns the power on or off.
Operator control of the power switch can be prohibited by
using the included power switch cover.
For information on using the cover, refer to Section 3.1.7,
Power switch cover mounting
.
Note
Be sure to connect the power supply connector before
turning on the power.
Operation panel buttons
The ESC c 5 command determines whether or not the
operation panel buttons are active.
The buttons are always inactive in the cut sheet waiting
state.
RELEASE button
Type: Non-locking push button
Function: Releases the paper clamp.
Notes
When the printer cover is open, this button is enabled
regardless of the ESC c 5 setting.
When changing the ribbon cassette is required during
printing, open the printer cover and press this button to
release the paper clamp.
If the paper clamp is released by this button while
printing on a cut sheet, the print position may shift, and
the status information transmitted by the GS r 3 com-
mand may be incorrect. In this case, bit 1 of the fourth
byte of ASB (for slip paper) or bit 4 (for validation paper)
is set to 1 to inhibit printing.
If cut sheet mode is not selected, the printer automati-
cally releases the paper clamp if it does not receive data
for approximately 10 seconds.
PAPER FEED button
Type: Non-locking push button
Function: When pushed once and released, feeds
paper one line by the amount set by ESC 2
and ESC 3. When pushed and held, feeds
paper continuously.
Note
When the printer cover is open, these buttons are active
regardless of the ESC c 5 setting.
Paper load switch
Type: Non-locking lever switch
Function: Loads a paper roll.
Notes
This switch performs fast paper feeding regardless of
the paper feed amount set by the ESC 2 and ESC 3
commands.
When the printer cover is open, only this switch can
perform paper feeding.
This switch is not affected by the ESC c 5 setting.
If only cut sheet mode is selected by ESC c 0, a paper roll
cannot be loaded by using this switch.
DIP switches
See Chapter 7 for the TM-U375P DIP switches.
