Setting the Server Gain
You can adjust the volume of the audio input and output. To set the audio gain:
1. Navigate to Streaming
Audio (see Figure 4-5).
2. Under Server Gain Setting, in the Input gain drop-down list, select a value from 1 to 10,
or Mute (default = 3). Select a higher value to increase the volume.
3. Under Server Gain Setting, in the Output gain drop-down list, select a value from 1 to 6,
or Mute (default = 3). Select a higher value to increase the volume.
4. Click Save.
Setting the Audio Bit Rate
You can adjust the audio transmission bit rate. Higher bit rates produce better audio quality but
require more bandwidth.The G.726 speech codec is used with 16, 24, 32, and 40 kbit/s
transmissions. The G.711 speech codec is used with u-law and A-law algorithms (64 kbit/s).
1. Navigate to Streaming
Audio (see Figure 4-5).
2. In the Bit Rate drop-down list, select one of the following:

Enabling Audio Recording to Storage
Audio can be recorded with video to the storage device (SD card or network storage) that has
been configured for the camera. Audio recording to storage is disabled by default.
To enable audio recording to storage, select Enable from the Recording to Storage drop-down
list and click Save (see Figure 4-5).
Note If the selected audio bit rate is not compatible with the player used for playing
back the recorded clips, there will be no audio, and noise will be heard during
playback.
