Note: For multifile cubes and time-based partitioned cubes, all cube parts
must be copied to locations relative to the location of the base cube.
2. Copy the updated PowerCube to the directory described in step 1.
Based on the example from step 1, the directory structure after copying the
Product.mdc cube would look like this:
C:\Cubes\Product\Product.mdc
3. Open the pcativate utility.
The pcactivate executable, pcactivate.exe, is located in the installation_location\
bin directory.
Note: You cannot run the pcactivate executable outside the bin directory.
4. At the command line prompt, type the pcactivate command using the
following syntax:
pcactivate cube_name.mdc
deployment_location
where deployment_location specifies the directory in which the base cube is
located, as specified by the cube connection information in IBM Cognos
Administration.
Using the previous example, the location would be C:\Cubes.
For example, type:
pcactivate Product.mdc C:\Cubes
To specify multiple deployment locations, use the following syntax:
pcactivate cube_name.mdc
deployment_location
deployment_location
For example, type:
pcactivate Product.mdc \\server_1\Cubes \\server_2\Cubes
Tip: If you type a path in the cube_name.mdc parameter, the path is ignored.
Results
The updated version of the cube is now available for access by the studios.
