8.1Electronicsprotectionsystem
Thevehicledriveelectronicsisfittedwithanoverloadprotection.
Ifthedriveisseverelyoverloadedoveralongperiod(forexample,
duringsteepclimbs)and,aboveall,atsimultaneoushighexternal
temperatures,theelectronicsystemcanoverheat.Inthiscase,
thevehicleperformanceisgraduallyreduceduntilitcomestoa
standstill.Thestatusdisplayshowsacorrespondingflashcode(please
refertotheusermanualforyourremote).Ifyouswitchthedrive
electronicsoffandthenonagain,theerrormessageisdeletedand
theelectronicscanbeswitchedonagain.Itcanhowevertakeupto
fiveminutesuntiltheelectronicshascooleddownenoughforthe
drivestoapplytheirfullperformance.
Ifthedriveisblockedduetoaninsurmountableobstacle,for
example,acurborsimilarwhichistoohigh,andthedriverattempts
torunthedriveformorethan20secondsagainstthisobstacle,the
electronicsystemswitchesthedrivesofftoavoiddamage.Thestatus
displayshowsacorrespondingflashcode(pleaserefertotheuser
manualforyourremote).Ifyouswitchthedriveelectronicsoffand
thenonagain,theerrormessageisdeletedandtheelectronicscan
beswitchedonagain.
NOTE
–Adefectivemainfusemaybereplacedonlyafter
checkingtheentireelectricsystem.AnInvacare

8.2Batteries
Powerissuppliedbytwo12Vbatteries.Thebatteriesare
maintenance-freeandonlyneedregularcharging.
Inthefollowing,youfindinformationonhowtocharge,handle,
transport,store,maintain,andusebatteries.
8.2.1Generalinformationoncharging
Newbatteriesshouldalwaysbefullychargedoncebeforetheirfirst
use.Newbatterieswillbeattheirfullcapacityafterhavingrun
throughapprox.10-20chargingcycles(break-inperiod).This
break-inperiodisnecessarytofullyactivatethebatteryformaximum
performanceandlongevity.Thus,rangeandrunningtimeofyour
mobilitydevicecouldinitiallyincreasewithuse.
Gel/AGMleadacidbatteriesdonothaveamemoryeffectasNiCd
batteries.
8.2.2Generalinstructionsoncharging
Followtheinstructionslistedbelowtoensuresafeuseandlongevity
ofthebatteries:
•Charge18hourspriortoinitialusage.
•Werecommendchargingthebatteriesdailyafterevery
dischargeevenafterpartlydischarge,aswellaseachnightover
night.Dependingonthelevelofdischarge,itcantakeupto12
hoursuntilthebatteriesarefullychargedagain.
•WhenthebatteryindicatorreachedtheredLEDrange,charge
thebatteriesfor16hoursminimum,neglectingthecharge
completedisplay!
•Trytoprovidea24hourchargeonceaweektomakesurethat
bothbatteriesarefullycharged.
•Donotcycleyourbatteriesatalowstateofchargewithout
regularlyrechargingthemfully.
