dischargeduntilallgreenandorangeLEDareoff.Thisshouldbe
donewithinoneday.A16hourchargeafterwardsisnecessary
asreconditioning.
8.2.7Transportingbatteries
Thebatteriessuppliedwithyourelectricvehiclearenothazardous
goods.ThisclassificationisbasedontheGermanGGVSHazardous
GoodsRoadTransportOrdinances,andtheIATA/DGRHazardous
GoodsRailTransport/AirTransportOrdinances.Batteriesmaybe
transportedwithoutrestrictions,whetherbyroad,railorbyair.
Individualtransportcompanieshave,however,guidelineswhichcan
possiblyrestrictorforbidcertaintransportprocedures.Pleaseask
thetransportcompanyregardingeachindividualcase.
8.2.8Generalinstructionsonhandlingthebatteries
•Nevermixandmatchdifferentbatterymanufacturesor
technologies,orusebatteriesthatdonothavesimilardate
codes.
•NevermixgelwithAGMbatteries.
•Alwayshaveyourbatteriesinstalledbyaproperlytrained
mobilitydevicetechnician.Theyhavethenecessarytrainingand
toolstodothejobsafelyandcorrectly.
8.2.9Howtohandledamagedbatteriescorrectly
CAUTION!
Corrosionandburnsfromacidleakageif
batteriesaredamaged
–Removeclothesthathavebeensoiledbyacid
immediately.
Aftercontactwithskin:
–Immediatelywashaffectedareawithlotsofwater.
Aftercontactwitheyes:
–Immediatelyrinseeyesunderrunningwaterfor
severalminutes;consultaphysician.
•Alwayswearsafetygogglesandappropriatesafetyclothingwhen
handlingdamagedbatteries.
•Placedamagedbatteriesinanacid-resistantreceptacle
immediatelyafterremovingthem.
•Onlyevertransportdamagedbatteriesinanappropriate
acid-resistantreceptacle.
•Washallobjectsthathavecomeintocontactwithacidwith
lotsofwater.
Disposingofdeadordamagedbatteriescorrectly
Deadordamagedbatteriescanbegivenbacktoyourdealeror
directlytoInvacare.
