9Maintenance
9.1Maintenanceintroduction
Theterm“Maintenance“meansanytaskperformedtoensurethat
amedicaldeviceisingoodworkingorderandreadyforuseas
intended.Maintenanceencompassesdifferentareas,suchaseveryday
careandcleaning,inspectionchecks,repairtasksandrefurbishment.
NOTE
–Haveyourvehiclecheckedonceayearbyan
authorisedInvacaredealerinordertomaintainits
drivingsafetyandroadworthiness.
9.2Cleaningthemobilitydevice
Whencleaningthemobilitydevice,payattentiontothefollowing
points:
•Onlyuseadampclothandgentledetergent.
•Donotuseanyabrasiveorscouringagents.
•Donotsubjecttheelectroniccomponentstoanydirectcontact
withwater.
•Donotuseanyhigh-pressurecleaningdevices.
Disinfection
Sprayorwipedisinfectionusingatestedandrecognisedproductis
permitted.Alistofthecurrentpermitteddisinfectantsisavailable
fromtheRobertKochInstituteathttp://www.rki.de.
9.3Inspectionchecks
Thefollowingtablelistsinspectionchecksthatshouldbeperformed
bytheuserandtheirintervals.Ifthemobilitydevicefailstopassone
oftheinspectionchecks,refertothechapterindicatedorcontact
yourauthorisedInvacaredealer.Amorecomprehensivelistof
inspectionchecksandinstructionsformaintenanceworkcanbe
foundintheservicemanualforthisdevice,whichcanbeobtained
fromInvacare.Thatmanual,however,isintendedtobeusedby
trainedandauthorizedservicetechnicians,anddescribestaskswhich
arenotintendedtobeperformedbytheuser.
