Required Options
This chapter describes the low phase noise operation of the instrument when having
ordered the Option -LPN.
The Low Phase Noise Option LPN is only available with the 2-channel configuration,
Option -002.
7.1 Introduction
Introduction
The Low Phase Noise Option provides an additional external clock input that bypasses
the internal clock routing circuitry and connects the external clock directly to the
sample clock input of the DAC ASIC. This allows the M8190A to operate with ultra low
phase noise performance, where the phase noise of the output signal is generally
determined by the phase noise of the external clock.
