ConveyorsConveyors
The conveyor is a very important part of the paver that
moves material from the hopper back to the auger and
out of the Under Auger Material Cut-Offs to the screed.
Pay close attention to integrating conveyor operation
into the total operation of the paver. (Figure 4-58)
NOTE: Spray down the conveyor drive chains with
cleaning solvent or release agent several
times during the work day for optimum
performance.

Never leave the paver unattended
while the conveyor is operating. Do not leave paver
running with conveyors set to AUTO for any length of
time to prevent hydraulic oil overheating.
Select AUTO or Override (to operate manually)
mode for the left or right (or both) conveyor
switch(es) on the control panel. (Figure 4-59)
In AUTO mode, the conveyor(s) automatically stops
when proximity sensors detect asphalt height at the
appropriate level for pausing the conveyor(s).
NOTE: Operating in the AUTOMATIC mode is highly
recommended.)

Switches

Spray down the conveyor drive chains with cleaning
solvent or release agent several times during the
work day for optimum performance. Asphalt in the
conveyors can cause damage to the machine.
NOTE: Check conveyor chain adjustment every 100
hours.
NOTE: Moving the joysticks into neutral will pause
conveyor operation. (This feature can be
turned off.)
If the conveyors are running while the Under Auger
Material Cut-Offs are closed, there will be spillage,
which is normal. (Figure 4-60) To help prevent
this spillage, work conveyors manually when
loading hopper and not paving.
Irregular movement of the conveyor indicates
that the conveyor chains need adjustment. (See
Section 5)
