REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS, PART 1
If the engine is to be mounted on a repair stand
by means of a mounting plate attached to its left
side, the following components must also be
removed if present.
1. Remove the dipstick pipe.
2. Remove the oil fill pipe.
3. Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe.
4. Tag the electrical connectors to facilitate
reconnection in the original configuration.
5. Unlock and remove the end connectors
attached to the EECU.
6. Unlock and separate the external
connectors at the various junctions,
including the differential pressure sensors.
7. Remove the clamps holding the harness to
the cylinder block.
8. Set the members of the harness aside in a
safe place.
Use suitable rags and containers for collecting
fuel and coolant drainage at each of the following
steps.
9. Loosen the fuel line banjo fittings.
10. Remove the fuel line connecting the fuel
filter housing to the EECU cooling plate.
11. Remove the strap clamps attaching the
double line to the cylinder block.
12. Remove the fuel lines between the top of the
cylinder head at the front and the fuel filter
housing.
13. Remove the strap clamp from the line to the
cylinder block.
14. Remove the fuel line between the side of the
cylinder head at the rear and the fuel filter
housing.
15. Remove the fuel filter housing.
16. Remove the EECU harness retainers.
17. Remove the harness and set aside.
18. If not already done, remove the fuel lines
between the fuel supply pump, fuel filter
housing and the EECU cooling plate and set
aside.
19. Remove the cooling plate and the EECU
from the cylinder block.
20. Separate the cooling plate from the EECU.
21. Attach a suitable lifting device to the lifting
points on the engine.
22. Attach an engine hoist to the lifting device.
23. Using the engine hoist, move the engine to a
suitable, safe stand.
24. Using an appropriate mounting plate, attach
the engine to the stand.
Cylinder Head (Valve) Cover
Removal

1. If not already done, remove the crankcase
ventilation pipe.
2. Remove the pressure sensor.
3. Remove the screws attaching the cylinder
head (valve) cover to the cylinder head.
4. Remove the cylinder head (valve) cover.
Engine Wiring Harness Removal —
External

The external wiring harness is encased in
accordion tubing. There are several units each of
which is fitted with end connectors that permit
convenient stringing, joining and attachment to
the internal harness in the block in various
locations.
1. If not already done, unlock and remove the
end connectors attached to the EECU.
2. Tag the connectors to facilitate reconnection.
3. Unlock and separate the external
connectors at the various junctions.
4. Remove the clamps holding the harness to
the cylinder block.
5. Set the members of the harness aside in a
safe place.
