Oil Pump Removal
The short oil pump inlet tube included with the
rear sump oil pan is clamped by a strap to a
bracket that extends from the valve housing
assembly. The long tube with the front sump oil
pan is clamped to the valve housing assembly by
a strap.
1. If not already done, remove the oil pan.
2. Remove the pump inlet pipe and strainer.
3. Remove and discard the seal ring.
The pressure side pipe is held in place because it
slips into openings in the pump and valve
housing.
4. Remove the valve housing.
5. Remove and discard the seal rings.
6. Remove the pressure side pipe.
7. Remove and discard the seal rings.
8. Remove the block stiffener plate.

Use a very short Torx
®
bit to access the screws
for the flange adapters in order to fit the wrench,
bit holder and bit between the flywheel housing
and the screws.
9. Remove the inlet flange adapter.
10. Remove the outlet flange adapter.
11. Remove the No. 7 main bearing cap with the
oil pump from the cylinder block.
12. Remove the oil pump from the bearing cap.
Oil Pump Installation
1. Attach the oil pump to the No. 7 main
bearing cap.
Make certain that the bearing insert is in good
condition and properly installed on the bearing
cap. Failure to heed this caution may result in
severe component damage.
2. Using a torque wrench, tighten the screws
according to specification.
3. Attach the bearing cap to the cylinder block.
4. Using a torque wrench, tighten the screws
according to specification.
5. Attach the outlet flange adapter to the oil
pump housing.
6. Attach the inlet flange adapter to the oil
pump housing.
7. Using a torque wrench, tighten the screws
according to specification.
8. Attach the block stiffener plate to the cylinder
block.
9. Using a torque wrench, tighten the screws in
sequence according to specification.
10. Lubricate and assemble new seal rings on
the inlet and pressure side pipes.
11. Assemble the pressure side pipe in the oil
pump housing.
