REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS, PART 1
INSPECTION
1. Clean the camshaft thoroughly.
If any component displays cracking, pitting,
scoring or excessive wear, replace it.
Follow the Magnaflux
®
(PT7190) inspection
procedure for steps 2 and 3.
2. Inspect the camshaft, lobes and journals.
3. Inspect the camshaft gear.
4. Inspect the vibration damper.
CAMSHAFT GEAR INSTALLATION
The camshaft can be installed on a properly
installed cylinder head before attaching the timing
gear and vibration damper.
1. Position the vibration damper and timing
gear on the camshaft.
2. Install the retaining screws.
3. Tighten the retaining screws according to
the sequence and specification found in
“MP7 ENGINE MECHANICAL
SPECIFICATIONS” on page 300.
