CHAPTER7 COMMUNICATION WITH INTELLIGENT
FUNCTION MODULE
(1) Description of intelligent function modules
The intelligent function module is a module that allows the CPU module to process
analog values or high speed pulses which cannot be processed with I/O modules.
For example, an analog value is converted into a digital value with the analog/digital
conversion module, one of the intelligent function modules, before being used.
(2) Communication with intelligent function modules
The intelligent function module is equipped with memory (buffer memory) to store the
data received from or output to external devices.
The CPU module reads/writes the data from/to the buffer memory.
