6-30 Manual # 42-02-2223
Troubleshooting
Earthquake Reduce Speed
Description: An earthquake event (seismic switch) has initiated a car speed reduction (150 fpm or less) as
required by some code jurisdictions.
Car Reaction: Control stop.
Earthquake Reset button OK
Description: A previously declared failure of the earthquake reset button has been resolved.
Car Reaction: Previous failure is no longer a reason to keep the car out of service.
Earthquake Reset button stuck ON
Description: Controller detected earthquake reset button (on ICE-EQ board) has failed in “on” state.
Car Reaction: If moving, car will complete run. Once stopped, car is removed from service.
Troubleshooting:
1. Verify if reset button (or related circuitry) on the ICE-EQ board is faulty.
2. Replace ICE-EQ board.
Earthquake Run, EARTHQUAKE RUN
Description: Some code jurisdictions allow car to run normally (at a speed no greater than 150 fpm) under
earthquake conditions. This event indicates car is being allowed to run in this manner.
Car Reaction: Car operates “normally” at reduced speed.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check the wiring for the seismic and counterweight displacement inputs.
2. Check the earthquake user settings on the Car Operation screen Earthquake tab.
Earthquake Shutdown, EARTHQUAKE SHUTDOWN. See Earthquake Operation Activated.
Earthquake Slow Speed Hoistway Scan Activated
Description: The earthquake hoistway scan (required by section 8.4.10.1.3 of the A17.1-2016 Elevator
Safety code) has been initiated by emergency personnel.
Car Reaction: Car travels from terminal to terminal floor (at a speed not to exceed 150ft/min) before return-
ing to the starting floor without opening doors.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check all related earthquake inputs and options.
2. Related inputs: Earthquake Hoistway Scan Switch
Earthquake Slow Speed Hoistway Scan Deactivated
Description: The earthquake slow speed hoistway scan has been deactivated due to earthquake operation
being reset.
Car Reaction: Car return to normal service operation
Troubleshooting: None
Earthquake Slow Speed Hoistway Scan Complete
Description: The earthquake slow speed hoistway scan has been successfully completed.
Car Reaction: Doors open once the car has returned to the starting floor (where slow speed hoistway scan
was initiated).
Troubleshooting: None
Earthquake Slow Speed Hoistway Scan Aborted
Description: The earthquake slow speed hoistway scan has been aborted due to activation of a seismic
device.
Car Reaction: Car is shut down again according to the earthquake operation per the elevator safety code.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check the related seismic devices.
2. Related inputs: ESS, CW1, and CW2 terminals on the earthquake board.
