Dual Channel QUAD Fault, DUAL CHANNEL QUAD FLT
Description: Safety system did not detect car movement even though iBox processor reported car move-
ment, or Safety system reported car movement while processor did not.
Car Reaction: Emergency stop: Motor contactor and brake contactor immediately dropped.
Troubleshooting:
1. Press Fault Reset button.
2. Check wiring for DP1 and DP2 encoder signals from landing system to iBox.
3. Check motor encoder or tachometer (whichever is present).
4. Compare Pattern Command and Speed Feedback on iView oscilloscope to make certain they track one
another.
5. Check reported speed accuracy using a hand-held tachometer.
Earthquake board power supply OFF
Description: Controller has detected a failure of the earthquake board power supply.
Car Reaction: Car behaves as if the counterweight derailment detector has been triggered (car generally
makes an emergency stop, and is removed from service at the next available landing).
Troubleshooting:
1. Check board connections.
2. Replace the EQ board.
Earthquake board power supply ON
Description: The earthquake board (ICE-EQ) power supply is operational.
Car Reaction: Car is no longer prevented from operating due to a loss of earthquake board power supply.
Earthquake Emergency Stop
Description: Earthquake operation activated by seismic or counterweight displacement switches and car has
performed emergency stop as specified by earthquake settings.
Car Reaction: Car will perform an emergency stop. After a pause, car will react as directed by user settings
on Car Operation screen Earthquake tab.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check the wiring for the seismic and counterweight displacement inputs.
2. Check the earthquake user settings on the Car Operation screen Earthquake tab.
Earthquake Operation Activated
Description: The car is on earthquake operation.
Car Reaction: Car behavior is according to user settings on Car Operation screen Earthquake tab. This oper-
ation is latched until EQ reset button is pressed.
Troubleshooting: NA. See also “Earthquake Operation (Seismic Switch)” and “Earthquake Operation (Coun-
terweight)”.
Earthquake Operation Deactivated
Earthquake Operation (Counterweight)
Description: Counterweight Derailment Detector activated, indicating earthquake condition.
Car Reaction: Car will typically make an emergency stop, then move slowly to next available floor away from
counterweight. Fault is latched until EQ reset button (ICE-EQ board) pressed.
Troubleshooting:
1. If in error, check counterweight derailment detector operation and associated wiring to ICE-EQ board.
Earthquake Operation (Seismic Switch)
Description: Seismic Switch activated (input has gone low), indicating earthquake condition.
Car Reaction: Car will react per user configuration. (iView/Car Operation/Earthquake) Car will either make an
emergency stop and move slowly to next available floor or will stop normally at next available floor in direc-
tion of travel. The fault is latched until the EQ reset button (ICE-EQ board) is pressed.
Troubleshooting:
1. If in error check seismic switch input and associated wiring to ICE-EQ board. Seismic input normally on.
