Troubleshooting
Position Cartop Offset Fault, POSTN CARTP OFFST FLT
Description: Each time car stops, it obtains position information from cartop position encoder. If reported
position varies from position last reported at this location by more than two feet, this fault is generated.
Car Reaction: Emergency stop. Motor and brake contactors immediately dropped.
Troubleshooting: Perform a Terminal Synchronization (Pattern Configuration screen>Common tab>Position
Synchronization.
Position Location Error Fault, POSTN LCTN ERROR FLT
Description: If difference between learned position of a floor (magnet) and currently indicated position of
floor (magnet) is greater than 2 feet, this fault is generated.
Car Reaction: Car will perform a terminal synchronization.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check that the iLand landing system is properly installed and adjusted. (Refer to Section 3 of this guide.)
Position Quadrature Fault, POSITION QUAD FAULT
Description: iLand quadrature signal not detected (one or both streams). When moving above 30 fpm, sys-
tem monitors transitions on quadrature signals. Fault may be bypassed on Diagnostics > Fault Bypass tab.
Car Reaction: Emergency stop.
Troubleshooting:
1. Verify quadrature channels are arriving at iBox.
2. On Hoistway screen, verify absolute position increments when moving up and decrements when moving
down (on inspection). If absolute position does not change, there may be a problem with iBox.
Position Quadrature Reversed Fault, POSITN QUAD RVRSD FLT
Description: Sequence of quadrature pulse streams indicates travel in opposite direction system request.
Car Reaction: None.
Troubleshooting:
1. Verify elevator moves in requested direction.
2. On Hoistway screen, verify cartop position increments moving up/decrements moving down.
3. On Hoistway screen, verify absolute position increments moving up/decrements moving down.
4. Check JP1 jumper on iLAND-c. Position A is for normal mounting orientation; position b is for upside
down mounting position.
Position Speed Deviation Fault, POSITN SPEED DVTN FLT
Description: Safety processor compares distance travelled reported by position quadrature with distance
travelled per motor rotation. If quadrature reports 48” travelled but motor reports less than 32”, fault is gen-
erated. May be bypassed on Diagnostics > Fault Bypass tab.
Car Reaction: Emergency stop: Motor contactor and brake contactor immediately dropped.
Troubleshooting:
1. Check velocity feedback from drive.
2. Check that Pattern Configuration/General tab Position Encoder Resolution is set to 256.
3. Check calibration of speed feedback signal.
